MOVIE #13 : EXAM

EXAM is a 2009 Released psychological thriller movie directed by Stuart hazeldine. It’s a short budget movie which set in a room and has only few characters. It has a running time of only 101 minutes. Even though the budget is small the movie had a good box office collection.

DATAPREV, a famous company, conducts a recruitment to a particular position.8 candidates are appearing for the selection procedure. An exam is the only barrier to their dream job. The exam hall has separate desks for each and each desk have a question paper. The representative of the company approaches them and explains the rules to them. There is only one question and the exam is for 80 minutes. No one should try to contact the invigilator or the guard at the door; No one should leave the hall. He leaves after asking if they have any questions. After the exam started, they recognize that the question paper is blank. But as per the rules they can’t communicate with the invigilator or guard. They become tensed and confused. Later, unexpected things happen to begin in the exam hall. What happened there? Why there is no question? Who wins? Who conducts the exam?

It’s a one room thriller which makes us also tensed along with candidates of the exam. The first few minutes of the movie is slow pace and little boring. But after that it changes its mood and becomes a perfect mystery thriller.it keeps us think at the end and have an excellent twist. The film presents a genuine riddle, and getting to the solution is an intriguing procedure for the watcher. It has another more subtle message about a person's conduct under uncommon conditions opening a philosophical and mental exchange simultaneously. Generally speaking, the correct secret environment and a deferential befuddlement plot are sufficient to like the film, however the noteworthy of the different shrouded suggestions is sufficient to laud a new craftsman. The acting is generally excellent and serious, with Luke Mably having the showiest job. Colin Salmon, the Invigilator, has probably the best voice on the planet and has an inconceivable nearness.

The minute point is that it gets bored for the first thirty to forty minutes, not for all but for those who expects a straight away action type. The scene gets heated up after that. More thrilling element arouses and makes you engaged. Still a mere loop hole of direction and script makes it less intriguing. Story, the strong factor for a short room thriller like this, has several logical mistakes. At some points we may ask ourselves why it is happening or is there a better way or is it really possible type of questions. Well, surprisingly, the script too fails to answer or convey a logical idea. The direction is not up to the level, cinematography and music are average.

It is interesting based on its thrilling elements and mystery mood it keeps, suspense and twists. It is a onetime watchable movie for thriller mystery lovers. Anyway it won't be a great loss even if you not watched. But for thrilling experience it is good.

Thriller fans should try.
