Coherence
Coherence is a 2013 released science fiction thriller mystery movie. It is an American movie directed by James Ward Byrkit. He is an American writer and director. He worked as conceptual artist on the first three parts of the movie Pirates of Caribbean.He is mainly known for the Academy award winning film Rango released in 2011. The story of coherence also is written by him. Emily baldoni plays the main role in the movie. The movie is portrayed in Emily 's point of view. The other main cast are Maury Sterling, Nicholas Brendon, Lorene Scafaria, Elizabeth Gracen. The story is based on a global event occurs on a particular night and how that affects the life of eight friends.
We first open to a woman, Emily, driving to a reunion dinner with her friends while talking on the phone with her boyfriend. When Emily finally gets to the house, their connection cuts out and then her phone screen cracks in her hand for no reason. Inside, Emily reunites with Mike, Beth, and Lee and mentions that her phone broke and thinks it’s due to “Miller’s Comet”. Which is supposed to be passing over them tonight, which according to Emily produces a radiation that could break electronic devices like her phone. So a quick rundown of this film is that this is a science fiction movie about 8 people in a house, and a comet that's passing by and the effect that this comet has on these people Emily’s phone was broken by the comet's radiation and the comet is only now starting take effect because its passing by. But we're gonna see that it can do more than just break phones. As they’re having dinner, no one is able to get reception on their cell phones and it gets them talking about comet. Especially Emily who knows a lot about comets. Like how in Finland, after a comet passed, people began going a little crazy. In particular, a woman called the police telling them that ‘her husband’ wasn't 'her husband’ since she had killed him yesterday. But the police couldn’t arrest her since her husband was alive.From this story, we can sense about the mysterious incidents that can be caused by the comet. So how does the comet affect the lives of these people? Does it affect them in a good way or bad way? Mysterious events starts to happen and the plot becomes more interesting and thrilling. Also it becomes complex and confused too.
It is a short budget movie with a few characters. But it discuss a different concept which is rarely depicted in movies. It is basically a science fiction movie. Fiction has more importance. It is based on some scientific theories and it will make us excited while watching. Those who love to watch science fiction movies with different theme and concept should definitely watch this movie.It is little slow paced at the beginning, upto the portion we discussed above, later it becomes interesting and keep us at the edge of our seats. It is mysterious and thrilling too. There are twists, thrilling moments, suspenses all which will satisfies a thriller fan. It is a rare theme portrayed brilliantly by the director.
