All you want to know about ‘Paatal Lok ‘: Indian series Overview
Paatal lok is an Indian web series premiered in Amazon prime
on May 15 2020 in Hindi language. The series is categorized in a crime thriller
genre. It is directed by Avinash and Prosit roy. Anushka Sharma, famous Indian actress,
produced the series along with Karnesh Sharma in the banner ‘clean state films’,
A Mumbai based Distribution Company established by Anushaka Sharma in October
2013. The series tells the story of an ordinary middle class policeman, who is
leading an investigation about an attempt to murder a famous journalist. And
the problems he has to face while investigating. Jaideep Ahlawat plays the role
of Hathiram Chaudhary, the policeman. Neeraj Kabi as Sanjeev Mehra,Swastika Mukherjee
as Dolly Mehr,Ishwak Singh as Imran Ansari,Abhishek Banerjee as Vishal Tyagi, Anindita
Bose as Chanda Mukherjee,Vipin Sharma as DCP Bhagat are some of the remaining
cast. The series consists of nine episodes with duration of 40 to 50 minutes.
THEME
Hathiram chaudhary, a middle aged policeman who is living an
ordinary life, had to take over the investigation of an attempt to murder
Sanjeev Mishra, a famous journalist. The authorities arrested four peoples
regarding this case and assigns Hathiram to find out more without leaking it to
media. This was the first high profile case assigned to him in his entire
service life.so he decides to find the truth. As the investigation progresses,
it leads him into other dark mysteries and so many hidden truths. Also he had
to deal with some family issues during this time. Who is Sanjeev Mishra? Who are
those tried to kill him? Who is behind them? Why they want him dead? What are
the stories of the accused ones? What are the problems that Hathiram has to
face during investigation? Nine episodes of Paatal lok is the answers for these
questions.
SOCIAL IMPORTANCE
The series has a good story line. It discusses the current
social and political situations in India explicitly. The untold and terrible
incidents that the minorities has to face, is well portrayed in this show. It
clearly tells about the discrimination and cruelties that the lower caste has
to face in uncivilized parts of the country. And about how criminals are born
from such an oppressed situation. It also discusses the dark mysteries behind
political strategies and competitions. Moreover it discusses the dark side of Medias,
the games played by them for their well-being by fooling people and also about
their corporate and political alliances. This show discusses much more social,
political and religious anarchies which makes it a socially relevant and must
watch one.
REASONS TO WATCH
As mentioned earlier, this show is a social relevant one.
This will helps to understand about the social problems existing in the country.
Good scripting is the next important factor to be metioned.a well written crime
thriller script with social problems, and family emotions is really
appreciable. The twists and suspense are other positives of the show. This
keeps us engaged throughout. It is shooted entirely in a realistic mood. Here
the main character hasn’t any super hero power. Everything is portrayed
realistically.so the directed needs to be appreciated.
WHO ALL CAN WATCH THIS
Everyone can have a try. Since it tells a little sensitive
content it is not recommended for small children. Others, those who love crime thrillers,
family dramas, realistic stories, etc. can watch it.it may not disappoint you.
OVERALL VERDICT AND RATING
A good, social relevant crime drama. The climax may not
satisfy all because it doesn’t end in a manner we which we expect. But overall
it is a good one to watch.
