Best psychological
horror thriller series to watch: Servant
It is an American psychological
horror thriller series premiered in Apple TV+ on November 28,2019.It is written and directed by Tony basgallop. M.Night
syamalan, the famous American director and actor is the executive producer of
the show along with its director. The series is about the Mr. Sean,his family
and their mysterious servant Leanne. Toby Kebbell plays the role of Sean, Lauren
Ambrose as Dorothy and Nell Tiger Free as Leanne Grayson. Rupert Grint also
plays an important role as Julian Pearce, Dorothy's brother, Sean's
brother-in-law. Only one season is released yet. It consists of ten episodes
having duration of 30 to 40 minutes. Apple TV is renewed ‘servant’ for a second
season but there is no official announcement of production and release yet.
MAIN PLOT
Mr. Sean turner and and Mrs.
Dorothy turner decides to appoint a nanny to look after their new born baby Jericho.
Leanne Grayson’s arrival as their new servant brings about a set of mysterious
and frightful events to Sean. Her mysterious behavior and the strange events occurred
makes Sean more suspicious about her. He tries to investigate more about her
with the help of his brother in law Julian, without letting Dorothy know,
because she is so font to Leanne.so the questions are who is Leanne?, What are
the strange occurrences happened at their home after her arrival? How did the
family faces it? Watch the show and unwrap the mystery.
POSITIVES THAT MAKES THE SHOW INTERESTING
1) Direction:
It is well a made series with very less budget. Most part of the story is
happening at a house. And there are only few characters. Director doesn’t add
any unwanted characters. The story progresses in a dark mood which makes the
scenes more mysterious.
2) Plot
twists :Not many, but the ones which have are excellent and makes the viewer more interesting and curious to watch
the remaining
3) Cinematography:
Already mentioned that it is well made, but cinematography is the one that is
to be specifically pointed.
4) Casting/performance:
All the actors performed well.
SOME DRAWBACKS TO BE MENTIONED
1)
No Horror elements at all, even it is tagged
under horror genre. But is it is mysterious enough to make interesting.
2)
Simple story, which is a main drawback, But the
plot twists helps to overcome it.Even though It is thrilling enough the main
story line is simple and weak.And,may be due to this, we may feel lag at certain portion.
WHO ALL CAN WATCH THIS
Mostly those who love to watch
thriller mystery type can give a try, it may not disappoint you. It has all the
elements to make interesting to a thriller mystery lover. Those who are
interested in watching a slow paced thriller with plot twists can watch
it.Family audience may like it because it mainly tries to convey the affection
and feelings of a father and mother towards their baby. But if you are watching
this show, with the expectation of a horror thriller, it may disappoint you. It
is mysterious enough but do not scare you. So don’t expect horror sequences in
this show

Overall, we are considering it as
good mysterious thriller with family drama elements.
